chemoreflex

chemoreflex /-rē″fleks/ , any reflex initiated by the stimulation of chemical receptors, such as those of the carotid and aortic bodies, which respond to changes in carbon dioxide, hydrogen ion, and oxygen concentrations in the blood. See also chemoreceptor.
