cesium (Cs)

cesium (Cs) /sē″zē·əm/ [L, caesius, sky blue] , an alkali metal element. Its atomic number is 55; its atomic mass is 132.9. Like other alkali metals, cesium emits electrons when exposed to visible light and is used in photoelectric cells and in television cameras. Also spelled caesium.
