caseous /kā″sē·əs/ , 1. cottage cheese-like. Describing the mixture of fat and protein that appears in some body tissues undergoing necrosis. 2. pertaining to the cheesy covering on fetuses that protects them during their prolonged presence in amniotic fluid. See also vernix caseosa.
