carotid sinus syndrome

carotid sinus syndrome, a temporary loss of consciousness that sometimes results in provoked convulsive seizures as a result of the intensity of the carotid sinus reflex when pressure builds in one or both carotid sinuses. Also called carotid sinus syncope.
