capnograph

capnograph /kap″nəgraf′/ [Gk, kapnos, smoke, graphein, to record] , an instrument used in anesthesia, intensive care, and respiratory therapy to produce a capnogram, a tracing that shows the concentration of carbon dioxide in each exhaled breath. It is used to monitor the adequacy of spontaneous and mechanical ventilation. Also called capnogram.
