cachexia /kəkek″sē·ə/ [Gk, kakos, bad, hexis, state] , general ill health and malnutrition, marked by weakness and emaciation, usually associated with severe disease, such as advanced malignancy or AIDS. Also called cachexy. −cachectic, adj.
