blood clot

blood clot [AS, blod + clott, lump] , a semisolid, gelatinous mass, the final result of the clotting process in blood. Red cells, white cells, and platelets are enmeshed in an insoluble fibrin network of the blood clot. Compare embolus, thrombus. See also blood clotting, fibrinogen.
