ballismus

ballismus /bôl″iz′məs/ [Gk, ballismo, dancing] , an abnormal neuromuscular condition characterized by uncoordinated swinging of the limbs and jerky movements. Ballism is associated with extrapyramidal disorders such as Sydenham’s chorea. The condition may occur in a unilateral form as hemiballismus. Also called ballism.
