aspirant maneuver

aspirant maneuver, a procedure used in making radiographic images of the laryngopharyngeal area. The patient exhales completely, then slowly inhales while making a harsh, high-pitched sound. The maneuver adducts the vocal cords so that the ventricle of the larynx is clearly visible in the image.
