anterior atlantoaxial ligament

anterior atlantoaxial ligament /atlan′tō·ak″sē·əl/ , one of five ligaments connecting the atlas (C1) to the axis (C2). It is fixed to the inferior border of the anterior arch of the atlas and to the ventral surface of the body of the axis. Compare posterior atlantoaxial ligament.
