ampullar crest

ampullar crest, the most prominent part of a localized thickening of the membrane that lines the ampullae of the semicircular ducts, covered with neuroepithelium, including hair cells, containing endings of the vestibular nerve. It is the site of sensory transduction of rotational motion.
