Aedes

Aedes /ā·ē′dēz/ [Gk, aedes, unpleasant] , a genus of mosquito prevalent in tropical and subtropical regions. Several species are capable of transmitting pathogenic organisms to humans, including dengue fever, equine encephalitis, St. Louis encephalitis, tularemia, and yellow fever.
