adhesiotomy

adhesiotomy /adhē′sē·ot″əmē/ [L, adhaerens + Gk, temnein, to cut] , the surgical division or separation of adhesions, usually performed to relieve an intestinal obstruction. Also called lysis. See also abdominal surgery.
