absolute threshold [L, absolutus, set loose, AS, therscold] , 1. the lowest point at which a stimulus can be perceived. 2. pertaining to millivolts of electrical charge determined by ion fluctuations or movement across plasma membranes that result in nerve or muscle stimulation.
