cramp [AS, crammian, to fill] , 1. a spasmodic and often painful contraction of one or more muscles. 2. a pain resembling a muscular cramp. Kinds include heat cramp, writer’s cramp. See also charley horse, dysmenorrhea, wryneck, torticollis.
