counterregulatory hormones

counterregulatory hormones, hormones that oppose the action of insulin by increasing blood glucose levels. They stimulate the release of glucose from the liver and decrease movement of glucose into cells. Kinds include glucagon, epinephrine, growth hormone, cortisol.
