coenzyme A (CoA)

coenzyme A (CoA) [L, cum + en, into, zyme, ferment] , an important metabolite in the citric acid cycle. Although not a true enzyme, it plays a significant role in the transfer of acetyl groups and the metabolism of acids and amino acids.
