codeine sulfate

codeine sulfate, a water-soluble salt of monomethylmorphine, an alkaloid derived from opium. It is used as a mild hypnotic, analgesic, and cough reflex suppressant. Dependency on the drug is possible, but is less likely to produce addiction than is morphine.
