chromaffin

chromaffin /krō″məfin/ [Gk, chroma, color; L, affin, affinity] , having an affinity for staining with chromium salts, especially brown staining of the cells of the adrenal, coccygeal, and carotid glands; certain cells of the adrenal medulla; and cells of the paraganglions. Also called chromaphil.
