cholinergic /-ur″jik/ [Gk, chole + ergon, to work] , 1. pertaining to nerve fibers that liberate acetylcholine at the myoneural junctions. 2. the tendency to transmit or to be stimulated by or to stimulate the elaboration of acetylcholine. Also called cholinergic stimulant. Compare adrenergic, anticholinergic.
