Chadwick’s sign /chad″wiks/ [James R. Chadwick, American gynecologist, 1844–1905] , a sign of pregnancy that develops after the sixth week and consists of a dark bluish or purplish-red color of the vaginal or cervical mucosa as a result of increased blood supply to the area.
