cenesthesia /sē′nesthē″zhə/ [Gk, kenos, empty, aisthesis, feeling] , the general sense of existing, derived as the aggregate of all the various stimuli and reactions throughout the body at any specific moment to produce a feeling of health or of illness. Also called coenesthesia, coenesthesis, cenesthesis.
