cardioplasty

cardioplasty /kär″dē·ōplas′tē/ , a surgical repair to correct a defect in the cardiac sphincter of the esophagus that frequently leads to cardiospasm. Cardiospasm is caused by failure of the sphincter to relax so that food can enter the stomach. Also called esophagogastroplasty.
