Candiru fever

Candiru fever /kan″diro̅o̅′/ , an arbovirus infection transmitted to humans by the bite of a sandfly, characterized by an acute fever, headache, and muscle aches. Recovery occurs, without treatment, within a few days. The infection occurs mainly in the forests of Brazil. See also arbovirus, phlebotomus fever.
