bronchofibroscopy

bronchofibroscopy, the visual examination of the tracheobronchial tree through a fiberoptic bronchoscope. It can be used for the collection of sputum or tissue samples in the diagnosis of pneumonia or cancer. It is also used for diagnosing/treating hemoptysis. See also fiberoptic bronchoscopy.
