Borrelia burgdorferi

Borrelia burgdorferi /burg′dôrfer″ī/ , the causative agent in Lyme disease. The organism is transmitted to humans by tick vectors, primarily Ixodes dammini. The disease is most common in the Northeastern, North-Central, and Northwestern regions of the United States and Canada.
