blind loop

blind loop [AS, blind + ME, loupe] , a redundant segment of intestine. Bacterial overgrowth occurs and may lead to malabsorption, obstruction, and necrosis. Blind loops may be created inadvertently by surgical procedures, such as side-to-side ileotransverse colostomy.
