Bell’s law

Bell’s law [Charles Bell, Scottish surgeon, 1774–1842] , an axiom stating that the anterior spinal nerve roots (and spinal cord and medulla) contain only motor and the posterior spinal nerve roots (and spinal cord and medulla) are sensory. Also called Bell-Magendie law, Magendie’s law.
