Bartonella henselae

Bartonella henselae, the etiological agent of cat-scratch fever. Feline infection results in chronic asymptomatic bacteremia, which may last up to 17 months. Approximately 40% of cats are infected with the organism. Most human infections occur between September and February and follow a cat bite or scratch.
