Wright’s stain /rīts/ [James H. Wright, American pathologist, 1869–1928; Fr, teindre, to dye] , a stain containing methylene blue and eosin that is used to color blood specimens for microscopic examination, such as for complete blood count and particularly for malarial parasites.
