wet pleurisy

wet pleurisy [AS, waet + Gk, pleuritis] , pleurisy in which the inflammation has progressed to a true exudate (also termed an effusive state). The escaped fluid has a high specific gravity because of the presence of blood clots and fibrin. See also pleurisy.
