bar

bar, 1. (in physical science) a measure of air pressure. It is equal to 1000 millibars, or 106 dyne/cm2, or approximately 1 standard atmosphere (1 atm). Also called barye. 2. a long, narrow rigid structure that a patient can grasp to assist in stabilization. Kinds include grab bar, parallel bar.
