ballistic movement

ballistic movement /bəlis″tik/ , a high-velocity musculoskeletal movement, such as a tennis serve or boxing punch, requiring reciprocal coordination of agonistic and antagonistic muscles. These movements are characterized by high firing rates, high force production, and very brief contraction times.
