ventricular flutter, a condition of very rapid contractions of the ventricles of the heart. Electrocardiograms show poorly defined QRS complexes occurring at a rate of 250 beats/min or higher. Cardiac output is severely compromised or absent. The condition is fatal if untreated. Compare ventricular fibrillation.
