uremia /yo͝orē″mē·ə/ [Gk, ouron + haima, blood] , the presence of excessive amounts of urea and other nitrogenous waste products in the blood, as occurs in renal failure. Also called azotemia. See also chronic glomerulonephritis, subacute glomerulonephritis. −uremic, adj.
