Trypanosoma

Trypanosoma /trip′ənōsō″mə/ [Gk, trypanon, borer, soma, body] , a genus of parasitic organisms, several species of which can cause significant diseases in humans. Most Trypanosoma organisms live part of their life cycle in insects and are transmitted to humans by insect bites. See also trypanosome, trypanosomiasis.
