talus

talus /tā″ləs/ pl. tali [L, ankle] , the second largest tarsal bone. It supports the tibia, rests on the calcaneus, and also articulates with the malleoli and navicular bones. It consists of a body, neck, and head. Also called ankle bone, astragalus.
