steering wheel injury

steering wheel injury, a traumatic injury, most commonly to the anterior chest wall, caused by forward propulsion of the body of an automobile driver into the steering wheel during a collision. Injuries include broken ribs and sternum, cardiac and pulmonary damage, and tearing of major blood vessels.
