auricle

auricle /ôr″ikəl/ [L, auricula, little ear] , 1. the external ear. Also called pinna, ala auris. 2. a small, cone-shaped pouch that extends from the upper and front part of the left or right cardiac atrium, so named because of its earlike shape. Also called atrial appendix.
