soft mechanical diet

soft mechanical diet, a diet containing ground or pureed foods that are easy to chew, often eaten by people who have dental problems or are edentulous. It can contain any foods allowed in a regular diet but in an easy to chew and swallow presentation. It is sometimes inappropriately referred to as a soft diet.
