severe congenital neutropenia

severe congenital neutropenia, a condition in which there is an absence of neutrophils beginning at birth or early infancy, causing the infant to be more susceptible to infection. It is often associated with decreased bone density and leukemia as the child ages. Formerly called Kostmann’s syndrome.
