right pulmonary artery

right pulmonary artery, the longer and slightly larger of the two arteries conveying venous blood from the heart to the lungs. It arises from the pulmonary trunk, bends to the right behind the aorta, and divides into two branches at the root of the right lung. Compare left pulmonary artery.
