rhinitis

rhinitis /rīnī″tis/ [Gk, rhis + itis, inflammation] , inflammation of the mucous membranes of the nose, usually accompanied by swelling of the mucosa and a nasal discharge. It may be complicated by sinusitis. Also called coryza. Kinds include acute rhinitis, allergic rhinitis, atrophic rhinitis, vasomotor rhinitis.
