radionuclide imaging

radionuclide imaging, the noninvasive examination of various parts of the body, especially the heart, using a radiopharmaceutical such as thallium-201 and a detection device such as a gamma camera, rectilinear scanner, or positron camera. See also cardiac radionuclide imaging.
