ptyalism

ptyalism /tī″əliz′əm/ [Gk, ptyalon, spittle] , excessive salivation, such as sometimes occurs in the early months of pregnancy. It is also a clinical sign of mercury poisoning. Also called hyperptyalism. See also sialorrhea.
