pterygoid plexus

pterygoid plexus, one of a pair of extensive networks of veins between the temporalis and the pterygoideus lateralis muscles, extending between surrounding structures in the infratemporal fossa. It communicates with the facial vein through the deep facial and angular veins. Compare maxillary vein.
