primary lateral sclerosis

primary lateral sclerosis, a slowly progressing degenerative brain disease characterized by weakness, spasticity, hyperreflexia, and a positive Babinski sign. It involves neurons of the motor cortex but not the brainstem or spinal cord neurons. Also called spastic primary paraplegia.
