preschizophrenic state /prēskit′səfren″ik, prē′-/ [L, prae + Gk, schizein, to split, phren, mind] , a period before psychosis is evident when the patient deviates from normal behavior but does not demonstrate psychotic symptoms of delusions, hallucinations, or stupor.
