postinfectious psychosis

postinfectious psychosis [L, post, after, inficere, to stain; Gk, psyche, mind, osis, condition] , psychotic behavior that follows a severe infection, such as pneumonia, scarlet fever, malaria, uremia, or typhoid fever. Also called infectious-exhaustive syndrome.
