aromatherapy

aromatherapy, a form of herbal medicine that uses various oils from plants. The route of administration can be absorption through the skin or through inhalation. The aromatic biochemical structures of certain herbs are thought to act in areas of the brain related to past experiences and emotions (e.g., limbic system).
